ABOUT

My name is Sandra Sanchez (Sandy), the founder of Frida Restaurant. Before devoting myself full-time to Frida Restaurant, I worked as an assistant teacher at Charter Oak Elementary School.

At 19 years old, I moved to the United States from Colombia. Due to my age, language barrier, and limited job experience, the possibility of getting my dream job of teaching did not look promising.

I worked in countless places doing many different jobs. At Dunkin Donuts, I began honing in on and improving my customer service. I worked at Fountaining Bakery where I began as a dishwasher, but worked my way up to cake decorator. This was the beginning for my love for food. Soon, I had the opportunity to become a bartender at a Latin-American restaurant. My personality began to really shine through and improved my communication skills, along with my memory. Finally, I began working at Puerto Vallarta as a hostess and a server. The eight years there helped me to become fully rounded and invested in the restaurant industry.

Although I am Colombian, I am very attached to the Mexican culture. The inspiration comes from my beloved husband, Juan, a native of San Luis Potosi. Before him, my knowledge of Mexican culture was limited. With the help of him, and many friends and family members, I developed a full admiration for the richness of this great culture and truly feel a part of it.

Frida began as only a dream, but determined to bring this vision to life, Frida was born. After falling in love with this idea and new business venture, Frida soon came to be a restaurant where all nationalities come together and experience and enjoy Mexican cuisine.

The devotion myself and my team have to Frida will create an unforgettable experience for each guest. The countless hours, energy, and knowledge being put into everything I do will have each guest leaving as family.
